I also started my job today.

Much more important than all of that. I now live 20 minutes from Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Mrs. blackcar already said we are going to the Indy 500 this year or next. YAY!!!

Also, lowered trucks are stupid and can’t do truck stuff and yes I used trash bags to move.

Not really, I am only planning on moving one more time in my life, when we buy a house here....

....and maybe if I apply for a transfer to my company’s office in San Diego. I doubt that will happen though. I really want to be close to my family and almost everyone is within an hour of Indy.

Do you still have the other house and are renting in Indy then?

Get the Totchos at Kilroy’s (loaded nachos, but tater tots instead of chips), there’s one in Broad Ripple and one Downtown.

Speaking of Broad Ripple go there for your foodie needs, in the last few years it’s become the hotbed of food and beer in Indy.

We are still paying rent for the house in IL until the 15th (movers can’t pick everything up until the 12t h) so ya we still kind o f have it.

We are renting for probably a year, we want to do some exploring and make sure we want to live in an area forever before we buy anything.

No, sorry, I don’t live around Indy, only know of Broad Ripple from my brother taking us to Kilroy’s and exploring that area when I’ve visited.

I went to the 2006 USGP with a bunch of idiots from FerrariChat, and sat at the start finish line with tickets that *supposedly* belonged to THE John Hennessey. (I never did confirm this detail.)

Anyway, this group somehow thought we could walk into some fancy downtown Indianapolis restaurant , like at least 12 of us, the weekend of the USGP, and get a table without a reservation.

The hostess suggested we head towards Broad Ripple as we might have better luck finding a table there. One dude from Texas who was, I believe, already quite drunk, responded,

“Wait, you want us to go to some broad’s nipple?!”

Congrats!

I've been to every 500 since '97. It's a hell of an experience.

Lived in Indy almost two decades. LOVE broad ripple. We’re about ten minutes north of it and eat there all the time. La Piedad is one of my favorite spots if you want Mexican. Recommend ordering the Pollo Loco La Piedad, it’s an experience.

Broad Ripple i s a really cool area and even south of it in the Meridian Kessler area is super cool. I have heard that property values are starting to increase so it might be worthwhile to start searching a little bit.

If you’ve got any questions, just ask!

Thanks, man.

I am figuring we will probably go in 2020, my company runs 24 hours and usually does skeleton crews on holidays. I am expecting the “Hey new guy, you got this,” f or every holiday in 2019.

Just because you can afford a Ferrari doesn't mean you have class.

We both love Mexican food, will definitely have to check that out.

Ya, I am a little concerned that Amazon is going to decide to build their HQ2 here and property values are going to sky rocket very quickly.

Agreed. I absolutely do not want Amazon’s new HQ. I dont think we’re equipped with the infrastructure for it (465 is a mess at 5pm , not like California but still a mess) and I don’t want the crazy pricing that comes from all of the engineers. Seattle and San Francisco are basically unlivable for a lot of workers and part of Indy’s appeal should be the fact that it’s living cost is reasonable.

EDIT: This was at the top if news feed right after I posted that comment, looks like it won't be Indy.

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2018/11/03/amazon-reportedly-in-advanced-stages-of-naming-va-as-2nd-headquarters.html

I need to go check out 465 one evening when I don’t have to work. I work 5pm-2am and everyone on my shift that has to use 465 to get to work was complaining about how bad it was last night.

Cost of living was a huge part of us moving here, especially home prices. I really don’t know enough about the area yet to have any opinion on HQ2 besides I want to buy a house before it opens if Indy gets chosen.

Awesome I’m glad to hear it. Indy really is an awesome place with some great schools if you move to the right areas.

It d epends quite a bit on which direction you’re going on 465. If you’re headed east from meridian street to I-69 between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm  it is a complete disaster. If you’re headed west from meridian to I-65 it’s not so bad until about 5-6. So YMMV but I’d try to live close to whever you’re working.
